Assessment
Frequently called an “evaluation”, an assessment analyzes a person's communication skills.
Diagnosis
A person needing speech-language therapy could be diagnosed with a disorder, delay, or difference. A speech language disorder is a condition that inhibits normal communication compared to peers of the same age, gender, and culture. Occupational therapy clients are typically diagnosed by their physician and then given a treatment diagnosis by the evaluator.
Treatment Plans
A treatment plan, also known as a “therapy plan” or "plan of care" outlines the specific needs of the client and states the goals of therapy.
